WHAT IS Affiliate Marketing?

While you as a seller can benefit again and again by recruiting good affiliate marketers, they have no pressure or need to recruit a down line in order to make money for themselves. In this way, effective affiliate marketers, people with large lists or people who are willing to work at making sales from their own websites can make money from a standing start without taking advantage of anyone.
That doesn't mean that affiliate programs don't enable people to recruit their own team of sub affiliates but it works slightly differently than pyramid schemes.
Even in two and three tier systems (ie affiliate marketing systems where every person you encourage to become an affiliate is considered to be in your network and adds to your overall income) each level of affiliate gets paid their full cut. The seller pays the top level affiliate out of their own profits.

- The affiliate wins - no setup, inventory, overhead, R&D cost and they can (in many cases) recruit new affiliates without having to share their part of the profit.
- The sub-affiliate wins - getting full commission for their effort.
- The end buyer wins - less sales and marketing waste means prices can be kept lower.

Clickbank is an online order processing system that deals only with electronic (download-able) products.
