Using the following tools you can determine the following;
1) Overtures, Bid Browser: The keywords that companies are willing to pay the most per click for.
This will determine what the market value is per click for each word letting you know weather or not a keyword is a converting keyword or not. In other words if companies are paying allot for these words you can see that the people who type that keyword into a search engine are ready to buy. This help you if you are trying to earn top money from Google ads on your site the more people are willing to pay the more valuable the pay per click to you if you are targeting these words on your website. If you are running your own e-commerce website you can use this tool to find keywords to purchase traffic to your website.
2) Overtures, Search Term Suggestion Tool: How many searches per month these keywords are getting from search engines that are affiliated with Overture like Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista, CNN & Info Space this gives you an idea of weather a keyword actually gets enough searches to bother optimizing your web page for. If it doesn't get searched for don't bother targeting that keyword. If you cross reference that keyword with the bid tool you can see that maybe your keyword gets allot of searches but no one is paying or biding on that keyword because its not targeted to create action or not enough buyers buy when coming to the site from that keyword search.
3) Google Tool-bar: You can use the Google tool-bar to analyze the backward links for any given keyword so that you know how much inbound links you will require to achieve a top listing in Google. "Note" Google is usually dancing or shuffling the rankings the first week of every month so these results will not be accurate during this time. Use the Google download to download the Google tool-bar. After you download you will need to click on options to activate the page rank graph and the (I) button that activates the ability to see if Google has indexed a page or has any back-links pointing to the site.
4)Google.com: Then we use Google to search for the given keyword to see how many websites are competing for that given keyword. If you find that the keywords are to competitive and require to many back-links to secure a top ranking you may not want to target that particular keyword.
